Parks are amongst the most family-friendly of any attraction. They have plenty of space for the kids to run around and use up some energy while the adults can enjoy the surroundings in their own way. Smaller kids can have fun on play equipment and everyone enjoys feeding the ducks and swans that grace so many of our public parks.
Some of our Featured Gardens have something extra for the kids. Some of the best family days out in South Wales include a little outdoor run or a walk around a landscaped garden with a museum or a castle, for example. Cyfarthfa Castle and Tretower Court are two excellent examples, along with Tredegar House and Fonmon Estate. All of these have indoor and outdoor things to see and do, and while all are great fun for all ages visitors just might learn something too!
Many of the bigger parks have cycle paths, and taking the whole family out for a gentle bike ride is the perfect activity for a sunny day. It’s also great for kids to be able to ride their bikes without fear of dangerous traffic.
The country parks and public gardens of South Wales have a lot to offer families- entertainment, arts and crafts, education, exercise, and all kinds of healthy, wholesome fun. Many of them are also well-equipped for easy days out, with top quality toilet and changing facilities, tea rooms where hungry and tired visitors can take a break and have a bite to eat, and easy parking.
